Work Skills
It is our goal to help an individual meet his/her goals to gain sustainable long term employment.
Once a skills assessment is done a program is put together to ensure eventual success in the community. Key Industries provides an opportunity to acquire skills that will help individuals reach personal work related goals. Work Activities help individuals acquire the necessary skills to interact in a work environment and to be a team player.
If the desire is to gain employment in the community, and skills are needed before doing this, our focus is to guide the individual in gaining competency skills that may transfer into possible employment. When participating in work activities one learns about job related functions, expectations, builds self-esteem, develops positive work ethics, pride in one’s work, staying on task and gains skills that will move them closer to gainful employment. With various work activities for all levels, the individual can receive training in an area of interest. We assist with bridging development so that one day an individual has increased coping skills and is more self-sufficient.
To directly access an employment program we recommend the following placement agencies.
- Options Outreach - Options Outreach helps people with disabilities to build successful career strategies and find employment opportunities within the Saint John area.
- CCRW (Canadian Council for Rehabilitation and Work) – CCRW promotes and supports meaningful and equitable employment for people with disabilities.
- Community Living Employment Agency - The Saint John Association for Community Living operates an employment program for people with intellectual and multi-barrier disabilities in the Greater Saint John area.
