Daily Valued Activities

Daily Valued Activities encompasses a broad range of person centered programs such as volunteering, work related training.

Art

This can build ones self-esteem as we become aware of our natural talents.  Art has the ability to touch every part of a person's life and begins an appreciation process of the world around us.  Art also develops our senses and visual perception.

Through drawing, creative talent is unleashed in its purest form.

Once a week a local artist works with individuals interested in expressing their thoughts through creativity.  Each week a new project is introduced to the group through different mediums such as sculpture, water color, sketching, card making, map making etc.  Enthusiastic students look forward to these art sessions.

Music

Your aptitude of pitch is a source that branches out to support all your musical talents.  When you have mastered musical pitches by air, you are empowered by all the tones.  Rehearsal gives way to identifying perfect pitch, tone, listening techniques as well as reading musical notes.  Inspiration leads to personally challenging one's self to perform a solo or duets in front of an audience.

Music

Music is a hearing art.

The "In Key Choir" has been performing in the community since 2006.  We are now adding musical instruments into our performances.  The Choir Director works closely with each choir member on techniques and methods such as warm-up, vocal quality, tone, breathing, vocal harmony, rehearsal and learning new instruments.

This program has brought new talents to light and empowered people to share their creative talents with others.

Community Volunteer / Inclusion Programs

Creative Writing

A sheer expression of thoughts and viewpoints verbalized in our own unique way.  Words are manipulated so that others can see feel and hear what we want to say.  The art of writing offers different viewpoints.  Expressions can set us free and can carry our minds to places we have never been before.  Discovering the newness of ideas and freedom of expression can inspire others to tap into their own uniqueness.

Newsletter/Points to Ponder

Our newsletter is produced bi-monthly to expose and develop in house talent; in areas of creative writing, writing techniques, interviewing, identifying lead stories, reporting on topics of interest, brainstorming and photography.  Clients are introduced to research and gathering of facts, to deliver a much sense as possible in as few words as possible.  To catch the interest of the reader, the importance of correct grammar and to drive the point home are skills that any good newsperson needs to develop.  The objective of this newsletter is to transition individuals into working independently so that the newsletter is an expression of their individual thoughts increasing independence and boosting self esteem.
